i get the feeling that our arrangement is unprecedented by most if not all people involved
but either way i dont really have proof of that

One of my classmates, I know, wouldn't hesitate. If he were in my position, he would already be doing everything he could to bring the rest of us here, safety or not.

His opinion is important to me, so it's hard not to be influenced by it.

the boss was obsessed with keeping his identity a secret. so far that he tried to kill his own teenage daughter
bucciarati had already been dealing with enough from the famiglia up to that point but that was the last straw for him. so he chose to betray the boss and save her even if it meant certain death.

Why even bother having a daughter that you don't want. Something like that always makes me wonder.

He wanted her dead because she knew who he was?

...No, that can't be right. You were on the beach trying to track him down directly, and if you could've gotten the same information through saving her, you wouldn't have bothered. You would've focused all your attention on helping her, and efficiently accomplished two goals at once.

So it must be something else. Not that she knew him, but that she was a link to him. To truly stay hidden, he needed to erase all evidence that he ever existed, and she was a threat to that.

The boss must not have been very good at his job, if he was that obsessive about keeping his identity a secret. That sort of profession should have had him orchestrating a cult of personality, not hiding his identity. That suggests he was weak and afraid of being overthrown at any moment.

we were first assigned as her bodyguards to deliver her to the boss. we didnt know his real intentions we just assumed he was going to put her somewhere safe
it never occurred to any of us how far he'd go

maybe weak of character but his abilities were powerful
thats the part that made him dangerous

yeah they both did
they're called stands
each one usually just has one specific ability
not everyone has a stand though
in our case, there was a test you had to go through in order to join the mafia. you either died or you got a stand
goes without saying but you'll wanna keep that to yourself

I think you said that Moody Blues was humanoid, didn't you? I assumed he was something like a security camera, but you said he was more of a person.

Do all Stands have to be humanoid?

nah far from a requirement
i think they often just happen to be because they're supposed to be our inner fighting spirit or some shit
so usually that'll be pretty humanoid i suppose
but it's not always that way.

Is it possible to know a Stand's abilities just by looking at it?

I suppose what I'm wondering is, is there benefit to keeping it a secret, or some reason that someone would want to keep their Stand hidden?

you can't just interpret based on appearances alone
knowing what a stand does makes it easier for you to plan accordingly on how to approach your enemy. so yeah, a lot of people made it a habit to keep it to themselves except for their teammates.
and the boss certainly didn't share information about his.

So if you were to uncover that sort of secret — knowledge about your enemy's Stand — you would want to transmit that knowledge to your allies as quickly as possible, in any way that you could.

...This may go without saying, but were there any Japanese members of your mafia? I don't need names or information about them. Yes or no is fine.

I met someone with a Stand. Before you showed me yours, even. I didn't know what it was at the time, of course, but now I'm confident in it.

He was desperate to have a nonsensical message delivered. I think he might have been trying to warn someone about a Stand he had gathered some information on.

if you can figure out the abilities of someone's stand, you can theoretically strategize around it even if it's powerful.
